Review of Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919) by Jens T — 07 May 2011
D.W. Griffith's Broken Blossoms is a beautifull and sad story about a girl Lucy Burrows (Lillan Gish) who is contantly beaten by her father (Donald Crisp). After being hit by her father Lucy accidently runs into a shop owned by a chinease immigrant whom treets her well and lets her sleep in her bed.
They both falls in love, but what's going to happened when her father finds about this? Broken Blossoms features one of Lillian Gish's finest preformances, her emotions felt real, her smile, her tears, everything.
