Review of Brighton Rock (2010) by Johannes R — 16 Feb 2011
14.2.2011.
Good script, acting and cinematography. The town feels claustrophobic. It has atmosphere of a small seaside village. However, the film introduces some religious themes it doesn't explore any further and the novel had a thematically better profession for Helen Mirren's character. Also, the way the characters get into the climax is too convoluted and the scene is a bit of a let-down. They should have used the lighthouse. Overall, however, a good thriller.
