Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Johannes R — 16 Feb 2011
5.2.2011.
One of Kubrick's greatest achievements - or, in other words, one of cinema's greatest achievements, period. Kubrick uses all the elements of cinema to create a thematically rich and complex work of art, and despite its cold detachment - or maybe because of it - it's also emotionally powerful.
14.2.2011.
It's also a philosophical film about man's meaninglessness in the universe. Kubrick uses camera to convey this idea. The unreliable narrator brings another layer of meaning to the film.
