Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Jane K — 20 Nov 2007
Even so the moral climate of this film may now seem dated and cliched, there is no doubting the sincerity of the characters or the plot. Beautifully acted by Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard two of cinema's least likely heroines/heroes for such a powerful love story, successful in their sheer ordinariness.
Heart achingly touching, this film still has the same impact nearly seventy years after it's initial release.
