The novel has been adapted with considerable skill and sensitivity... Only when the planes hit the Twin Towers - a point of rupture, in every sense, and one it's impossible to see coming in the film - does the director's touch waver, and the movie stumble into issue-drama territory, but an excellent cast keeps you watching.
