Review of Brick Lane (2007) by Private U — 09 Jul 2009
The beautifully lit 'Brick Lane' paints the subtle story of a Bangladeshi village girl sent to the UK to marry a stranger after her mother commits suicide. She eventually finds love in unusual places.
The story is moving and never judgemental and the characters are neither black nor white - the husband in particular escapes stereotype and is quite touching. A slow burning film worth watching.
