Review of Breaker Morant (1980) by Brendan B — 19 Oct 2007
A great Australian film...raw, unsentimental, beautifully shot and as brilliantly acted. Englishman Woodward is ironically tragic as the "Breaker", and a very young Jack Thompson really makes his presence felt.
Pity Australian film making has veered away from this kind of gritty realism toward an obssession with "quirky characters" and unconvincing escapism.
