Review of Branded to Kill (1967) by Matthew L — 06 Feb 2009
There's some nicely choreographed action scenes (the shootout on the pier) but again Seijun Suzuki takes stylish liberties hoping that will be enough to make the film interesting to watch - they don't work. He also adds liberal doses of nudity, sex and violence to spice things up but the plot is so convoluted it's almost impossible to know exactly what's going on and to whom with a resulting lack of interest.
This film which has acquired a cult following does have its moments but not enough to really make this a worthwhile entry in the crime drama genre.
