Cate Blanchett is a highly praised and consummated actress that, in my opinion, has an ethereal quality. Because of that, I find her insubstantial and have problems connecting with her characters' ordeals.
Well, that was until Blue Jasmine. Perfect cast!!! Two thoughts baffled me and kept banging on my head even after the movie was over: how could someone be as detached from her own reality and above other people as to bring upon herself constant reminders of her own filthy background and how could a person go throughout life without manifesting interest for learning and acquiring competencies to perfect the self in order to become a functional, productive and independent person.
Can someone really be so useless?
