Review of Blended (2014) by Ben L — 20 Jan 2015
I used to rather like Adam Sandler. His films were not masterpieces or comedic greats. But they were guilty pleasures. Trashy entertainment. But above average trashy entertainment. His most recent movies however, are anything but.
In fact, most modern Sandler films are downright unwatchable. Blended, is no exception. Which is strange when considering it reunites him with Drew Barrymore of such fun films: the wedding singer and 50 first dates.
But the chemistry the two had previously has all but diminished. Blended is a total disaster. Everything from the screenplay to the cinematography is laughable. And not the so-bad-its-good kind. The plot is stupidly dumb at best and both actors' film children are all pretty cringeworthy.
This film represents everything wrong with modern american comedy; cheap, cheesy and manipulative. So, any pros? Well, whilst terry crews' character is beyond racially offensive, he is the most fun.
Others? Well it looks like it was made on a modest budget. Do I really have to find other positives?
