Review of Black Swan (2010) by Vinicius B — 28 Feb 2013
While this is a fictitious story, what going on in the dance academy is pretty authentic. Dancers sweat, suffer injuries and undergo tons of stress throughout their career. The hallway is really that silent, as if to remind you that a dancer's life is a lonely one.
Nathalie Portman defines that role as hers, making Nina completely come to live. Telling Black Swan through Nina's point of view, we see what she sees. We feel what she feels. At a certain point, like Nina, we cannot differentiate reality from hallucination. It's a thriller which does not give a big surprise in the finale but the journey is an unsettling one.
