This movie and Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart will be assigned in Day 2 of my dream class. Black Robe raises the same question as Achebe's novel: how do we fare by between two evils, one the native custom of throwing out female babies in the woods and the other the colonial violence of dominating others by sheer force?
