Review of Black Narcissus (1947) by Les E — 26 Aug 2008
Beautiful story and lots of stiff upper lips. A bunch of British nuns struggle with a completely alien environment and try to bring their ideals to a distant corner of the empire. This came out at the same time as the Indian nation gained its independence.
The acting is sadly as stiff as the lips but still a joy.
