Review of Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) by Stef I — 03 Jan 2013

I get it, I just couldn't get into it. It felt disjointed. It was mostly abstract but then there were these straightforward scenes that pulled me right out of the movie, like that scene with the drunk guys; I felt like I understood Barry's character enough to render that scene unecessary, so it seemed almost a bit condesending and left me feeling confused. Was there something else being conveyed there that I missed?

There were a lot of things I liked about this movie but an equal amount of things I didn't like. Overall, I was unmoved by it. It just misses the mark somewhere.
