If you don't like this film check your humanity. I don't care what anybody says, (ya I know, "Soilent green is people!"), if Heston is overacting here it's the best d*** overacting ever.
The scene between Boyd and Heston early in the film is a gem, great dialogue, great writing. Whatever happened to Boyd anyway? It's a shame he didn't find his way into more quality films. This film has it all: quality acting, polished script, haunting bittersweet score and sweeping visual majesty.
And as for that chariot scene, who needs special effects?
