Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Kyle B — 20 Sep 2015
Tied with Return of the King as the most "oscared" epic movie of all time (11 Oscars), Charleton Heston delivers a great performance. The film is long, but so are most great and worthy things in life.
The film balances the themes of revenge and forgiveness, and in one sense is the companionate film to The Ten Commandments: they both star Charleton Heston, both deliver holy emotion in epic format without any attempts to proselytize, have sky-high production values, and are treasures of cinema.
This is the movie "made-for-Christianity" films WISH they were - or any film for that matter.
