Review of Beatriz at Dinner (2017) by Nolan P — 17 Jun 2017
Salma always gives 100%. Beatriz at Dinner is a bit more than the trailer provides, which is a good thing. Often most trailers spoil too much of the film. In the film, you get look at an energy-sensitive woman trying to make a significant difference in a dying world.
..one person/patient at a time. It's a movie that makes you think, introspectively about what part you play in the world we share. Healer or hinderer? Never getting too heavy, the dialogue is meaningful and well written.
The movie has good pacing and will entertain throughout the roughly 90 min flick. The ending (as I'm coming to learn with a lot of smaller/independent films) will take you off guard for sure...but should be dismantled and digested thoroughly before offering your overall feeling for the film.
Overall, a very nice film with solid acting from Salma and Lithgow.
