Review of Battleship (2012) by Hawk _ — 20 Nov 2014
It is what it is. You'll probably know from watching the trailer to this if it's for you or not. The movie is based almost entirely on the characters fighting a giant transformer-like alien: all the plot twists and turns of a traditional movie are tied to the alien.
We really never get an explanation of why an alien invasion would focus first on the sea, when it seems that there would be thousands of better avenues. The actors are forgettable. Liam Neeson is probably the man with the biggest amount of star power here, but he is only given a cameo role and Rihanna, the other big name only has a handful of lines and her character feels severely underdeveloped.
It can be fun if you go in with the right mindset, but it is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination.
