Review of Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) by Peter G — 27 Jul 2016
I just watched The Killing Joke film adaptation. I've read the original graphic novel, and I must say this leaves me with mixed feelings.
Being a batman fan most of my life, I feel such a pinnacle story such as the origin of the Joker should be treated with good taste.
Why is it that the storyline is nearly half of the way complete through the movie and we finally get into the story of the graphic novel this is adapted from...?
Barbara gets physical with Batman. Okay. Barbara has differences of opinion with Batman. ... uh, ok. Both of those elements were so overplayed and drowned out in the first 40 minutes of the film I actually checked to see if I was watching the correct film!
To be fair, the minute that the story picked up at the beginning of the graphic novel's storyline, I agree that most of the treatment was true to the original.
