Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Christian C — 21 Apr 2009
Masterpiece. Classic. Everything. Slow but well made, well crafted and the scenes are delightful to the eyes of every patient audience. It shows brilliant storytelling of a man who tried his luck and once became wealthy but left out with misery, and returning to his home, losing entirely everything.
Stylistic, colorful, full of life. Unlike any other historical films, this is really a work of a perfectionist. From beginning up to the last scene, this film is filled with so much beauty you can't resist.
It follows upon Barry Lyndon's tragic story, his rise and fall in English society. Cinematography, design, score and Stanley Kubrick's style of directing, every bit of it, I love. One of the best I've seen so far.
