Review of Bardelys the Magnificent (1926) by Greg W — 14 May 2014
A delightful recently discovered lost silent film from the dashing Silent Star John Gilbert that is a whole lot of fun.
Even though it was made as a somewhat satire of the Swashbuckler/Romance genre it holds up on its own well. It's got a lot going for it & is a real treat.
It has everything witty dialogue, lots of laughs, action, romance & of course Sword Duels. The dedication to put this together was amazing, they found a damaged French Print & restored it immaculately.
