Review of Babel (2008) by Trevor D — 21 Jun 2010
The plot of Babel is split into four different storylines that, at first glance, are only loosely-related, if any relationship can be determined at all. As the movie progresses, you start to see more connections.
The problem lies in the fact that there's no real payoff at the end. It feels like there should be something bigger behind everything, and there's not. The movie looks good, whether it's the crowded Tokyo nightclubs or a vast Moroccan wasteland, but it's not enough to shake the feeling that you got pulled in four different directions for almost two and a half hours.
