Review of Autumn Sonata (1978) by Jarett B — 31 Dec 2007
Sorry Bergman, but I saw this film when it was called "Cries and Whispers." It is eerily similar and not nearly as haunting. It is still emotionally draining through its depiction of suffering and sorrow, and it is fantastic to watch Ullman and Bergman's massive confrontation, but it falls a little short of being tragic, Bergmanesque style.
