Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Lalsakwolas — 20 Aug 2020

I don't know how or why this movie gets good to excellent reviews, maybe I don't get films, even though I'm currently studying filmmaking. This movie is not good. The pacing is extremely bad, there is no plot, there is no conflict and the overall aesthetics are simply bad. I tried to watch it for the sake of a review but it took me nearly four hours because I fell asleep a minnimum of three times while watching.

The actors, specially the main actress, are good and the way the film is edited is great, but it doesn't help the fact the movie is a total mess. I know I'm thrashing on a nearly 30 year old movie, but I have to say The Double Life of Veronique is far from good. The only people who can consider it good is people with sleeping problems, they would only need to turn the movie on and they won't even notice they fell asleep. Also they wouldn't even need to see past fifteen minutes of the film.
