Review of Autumn Sonata (1978) by Alec B — 07 May 2011
Its a devastatingly sad film, and while I wouldn't count it among Ingmar Bergman's absolute best (mostly because the first half of the film dives into the conflict too quickly and easily) but once the mother/daughter confrontation occurs its pretty powerful.
It demonstrates some of the best writing Bergman has ever done.
