Review of Au Revoir les Enfants (1987) by Ken B — 13 Jun 2008
There is something very pleasing about the style of French cinema. There is a calm and a beauty that isn't seen in most American movies. Au Revoir Les Enfants is a stunningly beautiful and heartbreaking film.
It perfectly captures the innocence of childhood and the gut wrenching moment when that innocence is shattered. I've spent a lot of time expanding my film horizons over the last couple days and I'm starting to take a liking to French films.
This is a great movie if you want an easy transition into foreign movies or if you already love them.
