Review of Annie Hall (1977) by Nate J — 23 Jul 2012
A charming story of a man who loves a women but just can't keep the girl. It's a quirky tale, backed up by Woody Allen's notorious comedic style. The movie is quotable throughout, but the thing that struck me most was Allen's stylised bastardised view at Hollywood and LA.
I really liked the party scene where people are essentially talking crap to one another in a monotonous dialogue, as if everyone in the industry speaks that way. It's a clever trick to pull punches at bigwigs, but it's genius to get those same bigwigs to laugh and applaud your work.
Really enjoyable, and even if you aren't a fan, the unscripted 'coke' scene is comedy gold.
