Review of Animal Crackers (1930) by Tristan P — 16 Jan 2008
At the top pf their game here, this just might be the Marx Brothers' best film. Groucho's verbal humor is extremely clever, at times venturing into the surreal when parodying Eugene O'Neill's play "Strange Interlude.
" Very advanced humor for the time. And the physical comedy is inspired as well. And, of course, the Marxes' musical demonstrations are great fun. Is "Duck Soup" better? Maybe, but it's hard to compare movies this great.
