Review of An American in Paris (1951) by Megan B — 17 Dec 2007
Gene Kelly is notable in this movie for not only starring, but also sometimes directing, and choreographing much of the movie himself. For that alone, the movie is impressive. I think the actual movie takes a backseat to Kelly's dancing and Gerschwin's music, but this will not diminish the movie in the eyes of anyone who's in it equally for their ears and toe tapping.
