Review of Alive (1993) by Mun R — 13 Jun 2007
Alive was a wonderful movie. Really makes you think about life. Very authentic feeling and the behind the scenes looks at the actual event I enjoyed.
The movie is of course about the Uruguayan soccer (football) team in 1972, who consists of young men who are traveling over the Andes in an airplane and crash! It was a pretty intense crash scene. It is very graphic and well done.
Many of the players had their family members on the plane with them, and many died.
They crash in the cold mountains with no food or shelter. They are forced to live out of the crash site of their plane and have made the ultimate decision to eat the others who have died. Cannibalism, or just survival?
Of course it is a true story, and it is depicted well in this story. If you have already seen the movie and like the movie, this is a great version of the movie because it has a lot of the behind the scenes footage, and commentaries from the people who actually lived through the experience.
My only complaint of the movie is that Ethan Hawke was cast in it! He was terible, and it made no sense to have him in it. Otherwise this movie is phenomenal. It really makes you think about how far someone will go to keep themselves ALIVE.
You never know until you are faced in the situation.
