Review of Aliens (1986) by Daniel V — 10 Feb 2014
Another sequel surpassing the original? The debate still goes on. Let's just say it equals it, since Aliens is a completely different animal. Alien is horror movie set in space, Aliens is a slam bam action sci-fi roller coaster with some truly scary moments.
It also has a lot heart and substance, powered by Sigourney Weaver's electrifying performance. Michael BIEHN please work more, you are awesome. This movie is never boring and if you think the Aliens are bad, wait til you see Mom.
Oh and don't think I forgot the best part, PAXTON! Hudson played by Bill Paxton is one of my favorite characters of all time. It made me a life long Paxton fan. He hates this performance, thinks he was terrible.
Of course he has become a much better actor, in Hudson, Bill Paxton created a memorable character who doesn't nothing but spit out quotable quote after quote. "Game Over Man. Game Over!!!" "BISHOP! Whattya doing man?!" Classic just like the film it's a part of.
James Cameron is what Michael Bay wishes he was, a director able to blend the spectacle and humanity with the greatest of ease. Side Note: Unlike Alien, the Directors Cut of this is by far superior to it's already superb Theatrical cut.
It's much longer, but trust me it's worth every extra second.
