Review of Aliens (1986) by Andy S — 16 Jan 2019
The pacing at the beginning is perfect kind of getting you ready for whatï¿ 1/2(TM)s to come later on. The robot and special effects must have seemed super ahead of itï¿ 1/2(TM)s time when it came out in theaters. Watching this movie, I can see how much influence it had on the Dead Space game, one of my favorite horror/thriller games. The set pieces and the attention to detail to everything is so meticulous, it deserves praise just for that.
That knife scene is awesome. Definitely a memorable one for the books. Great to see all these new faces with all types of different personalities and quirks. That grainy recording of the outside whenever theyï¿ 1/2(TM)re approaching a planet or station will forever be recognized and embedded in my head. Both spooky, uneasy, and interesting. You can almost feel the atmosphere of the movie. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s so dense you can almost cut it with a knife.
Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s pretty fucking amazing how good the aliens are at camouflaging. Just one characteristic that makes them that more terrifying. Holy shit, what a fucking nightmare to see that helicopter go down. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s kind of funny to see how the guys just give up and lose there minds, while the women maintain there composure and seem stronger mentally.
Of course, Burke, being the business side and company man side of everything, has to think about money and is probably going to get everyone killed. Wow, I didnï¿ 1/2(TM)t figure Burke to be so shady and fucking conniving. Watching these alien movies, you canï¿ 1/2(TM)t help but get the feeling of claustrophobia at times. Ripley is the definition of a badass. Sheï¿ 1/2(TM)s got ovaries of steel going back down there just to look for that girl. That Mama Alien is the stuff of nightmares because not only is she huge but sheï¿ 1/2(TM)s fast and a crafty bitch.
A lot more action packed then the first one but still creepy, still scary, still atmospheric as hell, and still so intense that it makes you hold your breath. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s amazing to see how Ridley Scott and Cameron have created there own world with these movies. I mean down to the smallest detail with gadgets, guns, environments, and types of transportation.
Fucking amazing movie!
