James Coburn and Nick Nolte embody mean-spirited men like no one can. Coburn's performance is fantastic and spot on. But it makes it hard to love this movie when you're so torn emotionally by these guys.
Affliction is old-school slow-burn character drama. It definitely has its moments...but it also wrestles with the monotony and boredom of small town life a little too realistically. But glad I finally saw this critical darling.
