Review of Adam's Rib (1949) by Jennifer X — 01 Jul 2007
Hepburn and Tracy together are always fun to watch. Their performances are what really makes their films great. This movie, however, did not leave me feeling as great as what I had expected. (I guess it's another lesson in assumptions.
) I'm not exactly sure what did it for me, or didn't do it, rather. I feel a little disappointed with the overall message of the film. (And the visible wires were no picnic, either.) Maybe I'm not looking at this one in the right light, but I do not feel the same spark or element of whimsy that I usually get when I see a classic comedy.
Something just feels a little bit off.
