This is a difficult movie to watch as it is disturbing to see someone on the brink of insanity. However, it is a very powerful and moving film with commanding performances from both Gena Rowlands as the emotionally fragile Mabel and Peter Falk as Mabel's husband, Nick.
Cassavetes compellingly captures the impact of Mabel's meltdown on the whole family.
