Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Leonard Z — 01 Jun 2008
With at first a style of reminder of Amelie, violence that spreads no opinions, and ultimately a gut wrenching ending...if only the dvd didn't stop those two times, I would have understood it better on the protagonist's struggle to find her husband.
It might seem like a darker version of Amelie at first, but Jean-Pierrre Jeunet does this for style, for it becomes a movie of its own rights.
Boys will be awake on the violence (and stunning nudity, hehe), and girls will sob like no other day (in a good way).
Need I say more?
(and to add. Who knew Jodie Foster could literally speak french VERY well.).
