Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Elyas K — 31 Oct 2012
Despite its classicist style and staginess which nevertheless adds to the tension and drama of the piece, the film touches on some racy and adults subject in a genuine and ahead of its time manner. That in itself would be enough for Kazan's film to be considered a landmark in American cinema.
To top it off, the acting is amazing, an Brando's interpretation of Stanley is a memorable star making performance, as he oozes charisma and unpredictability.
