Review of A Ghost Story (2017) by Cris C — 03 Aug 2017

This film was beautifully shot and the emotions I felt still hunt me (pun intended). Of course, the beginning was a bit slow and the pie scene way too long. Although I have to say that I felt the emotion in the scene.

The anger, the sadness and the pain while she was eating the pie. I would have preferred a different angle but that is my opinion. Once that scene happened, I felt the magic of the film took away. I loved the way Affleck moved slowly in the ghost costume, beautiful, elegant, yet sad and hunting.

I can't get the ghost image out of my head. It's simple presence through time, trying to get the note while the atmosphere around the house kept evolving and changing. I also loved the other ghost.

I thought their interaction was so sad yet beautiful. I know I keep saying the word beautiful but the film really is beautiful. I felt so sad when the ghost disappeared once it knew that the person she was waiting for was not coming back.

I was very intrigued by the note and I wonder what she wrote on it. Overall you have to be patient for the beauty of the film to start but if you can get past the pie scene you will enjoy the film. There was also an annoying long monologue and a random pop song that didn't make sense to me, but other than that enjoy the film for the emotions it gives.
