Review of A Ghost Story (2017) by Nasu N — 14 Aug 2017
A Ghost Story is an unconventional film that transcends the idea of life, time, and love. I was completely moved by this film from its beginning scene all until the end. But I can guarantee that you will either love this movie or completely detest it.
There is a point in the the movie that will either hook you in or take you out of the movie entirely. However, I was one of the people that loved how it was directed and was affected through each scene.
This is a beautiful looking film that takes on meaningful themes and makes you think, ponder, contemplate, and whatever vocabulary related to that. There isn't much dialogue but rather more of visual storytelling with a dark and meditative tone.
Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara are to no surprise very good in this film and I really can't find any problems that I have with this film. This is a truly remarkable and vulnerable film that offers something fresh to the table.
By the end I was left feeling empty and cold but deeply profound. You won't find a film that changes your perception on life the way that this one does.
