Review of A Bucket of Blood (1959) by Matthew K — 16 Apr 2008
The only reasons I netflixed this movie was because a) it was one of Entertainment Weekly's top 50 cult classics and I've been trying to watch all 50 and b) it was starring Dick Miller (the neighbor from Gremlins) who is awesome.
I have to say that the movie is like a strange combo of House of Wax and Little Shop of Horrors (specifically the original Roger Corman version... this could be because this movie was written by the same guy who wrote the original and was directed by Roger Corman as well).
MY biggest problem with the movie is that it feels so mean spirited because you really care about the main character who you I suppose are suppose to hate (he's alot like seymour... he's not murdering for thrills but for acceptance).
