Review of A Bucket of Blood (1959) by Chris T — 20 May 2009
Beatnik coffeehouse, The Yellow Door, busboy uses murder as a means to attaining status in the subculture through becoming a sculptor. Very simple and predictable storyline, but enjoyable nonetheless due to Roger Corman's directing and some interesting, borderline comical, acting by some of the cast.
Good in a bmovie, beatnik horror comedic satire kitsch sort of a way. Can definitely see the makings of the future Corman and writer Charles Griffin collaboration Little Shop of Horrors here. Short movie only 65:48 running time.
Made on a 50k budget, 5 day shoot. Brief drug referrences and violence.
