Review of 13 Assassins (2010) by Scott A — 26 Nov 2011
This is recent Exhibit A why it's sad Americans doesn't take more chances with subtitled films. Essentially "The Dirty Dozen" with 18th-century samurai, the first hour is a setup of the characters with gruesome moments offset with comedic interplay.
The last hour has one of the most epic battle sequences I've seen in a movie. When you have enraged bulls ON FIRE mowing down Japanese troops in an ambush, you can't help be entertained. Too bad it made less than $1 million in the States.
