Review of 12 and Holding (2006) by Gabriela A — 16 Apr 2008
This is a great film with great child actors (which are hard to come by). After Jacob's twin brother is accidentally killed by bullies, he and his two friends set off on seperate paths which lead to the loss of innocence which comes with adolescence.
It can be a disturbing film to watch at times because it shows the damage that adults can do to children and the horrific actions children can take as a result. However, I think the main beauty of the film lies in the fact that the film makers are never in judgement of their characters.
They show what happens and leave it up to us to judge or not. In my opinion, that's what good filmmaking is all about.
