Review of Rodan (1956) by Timothy E — 17 Jun 2012
The film starts off as a murder mystery that makes it stand out from all other kaiju films. The first 40 minutes are great. But then it sinks into the usual kaiju trap: a goalless giant monster appears, and the main character gets traded in for tons of military men we don't care about.
The ending, though, is much more tragic and poetic than most kaiju films.
