Review of Nelly and Monsieur Arnaud (1995) by James M — 15 Sep 2007
Sensual, seductive, elegant, a joy to watch and savour. And Emmanuelle 'Pour-Quoi' Beart just gets lovelier and lovelier with each film. There is a plot in here somewhere - a retired judge grows increasingly fond of the secretary charged with typing his memoirs; but that is somewhat lost in the usual French atmospherics, the poetic swish of dialogue, the chink of coffee cups and puffs of cigarettes that both define and decorate so much French film.
I love it, you might do the same..
