Review of Nelly and Monsieur Arnaud (1995) by Jimbo S — 31 Jan 2010
Almost every script Emmanuelle Béart chooses is bound to be good, but the raw forwardness and rather contrived innuendoes make it blatently obvious it was written with her casting in mind during her peak years, before her meg-ryan style plastic surgery debauchery.
targeted largely to the older male audience to cater for the well known yet frustrated french appetite for excellent choices in immaculate young beauties of the opposite sex. not living to it's full potential, the dialog reaches a plateau of brilliance midway which it does not manage to maintain till the end, yet it finds strength in it's cheekiness and articulate anecdotes underpined by the rich history of Michel Serrault's character.
enjoyable, even the second time around.
