Review of Mulberry Street (2006) by Corey H — 18 Mar 2008
This is the first of the 2007 After Dark Horror Fest that I've had the chance to see, and it was a great ride. I've been reading about this movie and wanting to see it for a while now, and it was worth the wait.
Rats in Manhattan infect people turning them into rat-zombie hybrids. A group of soon to be evicted residents from an apartment building must fight for their lives against the infestation. The film has a lot of social commentary, some of which dealing with New York specifically, such as 9-11, the Iraqi War, and most glaringly AIDs (mainly the final scene).
Definitely worth a watch, and one of very few truly great independent zombie films of the recent wave.
