Review of Le Havre (2011) by Suzy B — 28 Oct 2011
Kaurismaki does it again with a tremendously funny and offbeat film. His sense of humor is dark, bizarre but ultimately humanistic. The movie might feel stiff or absurd but naturally this is all intentional.
You'll get used to his style before you know it. Best of all, the story is actually very heartwarming. Somehow Kaurismaki manages to come across very French while never losing his Finnish touch. (I loved the Bob Dylan homage as well).
