Review of Le Havre (2011) by Jor R — 24 Feb 2014
Another typically charming and almost effortless Kaurismäki film that reminded me slightly of Wes Anderson in a way stylistically. The film is a sequel of sorts to the earlier 'La Vie de Boheme' and it's a treat to return to the characters and universe described there - I think I could watch a film based on the quirky exploits of Marcel Marx and his crew for eternity.
This is cinema that cheers you up and has you rooting for the underdog from the first frame - Kaurismaki is not talked about too much these days it seems to me which is a real shame as he is one of the most enjoyable directors working today and this film is business as usual - very good in other words.
