Review of The Big Country (1958) by Carlos R — 11 Sep 2010
Gregory Peck as the humble hero always works for me. That he shows his true self as he confronts and overcomes the violence of the cattle culture makes for a great story. Charles Bickford, Chuck Connors, Charlton Heston, and Burl Ives are incredible showing the underside of the "heroic" West.
Jean Simmons is SPECTACULAR! She shows us that a strong woman can take a movie from good to great.
